In short

A budget spreadsheet without the complicated parts

Budget Spreadsheet is a one-time download: an offline web app (no account needed) plus a separate Google Sheets™ template (free Google account) for recording income and expenses and seeing your month and year at a glance. No subscription.

Most budget templates ask you to learn a method first. This one only asks what came in and what went out. Pick a category, and the page shows your income, your net expenses and the difference for the month, where the money went by category, and all 12 months side by side. In Google Sheets everything sits on one tab; in the offline web app, on one page.

Every number comes from what you type in. Nothing is connected to your bank, nothing is imported and nothing is booked for you. The monthly difference is simple arithmetic on your entries – it is not a bank balance. If you would rather plan future bills and paydays, the Paycheck Budget Planner is the better fit.

An organizing tool – not financial, tax or legal advice.

What the video shows

The web app's monthly page on a laptop. Labels appear one by one: Single Sheet, Monthly Dashboard, Income + Expenses, Spending Guide and 12-Month View. A small card shows how the October difference is worked out: income $3,000.00, minus $1,502.50 spent, plus $40.00 in refunds, equals +$1,537.50. Then the entry form, spending by category and all 12 months. It ends with: offline web app + Google Sheets, three editions (US, International, Deutsch), separate files, no syncing.

  • Ten expense and three income categories to start – add up to seven of your own, no sub-categories

How it works

  1. Buy on Etsy

Check out on Etsy, then download your files in a web browser – not in the Etsy app.

  2. Open START HERE

The guide shows which web app file to open and has your Google Sheets copy links and the link for iPhone and iPad.

  3. Start planning

Open the web app in your browser, or make your own copy of the Google Sheets template, and add your first entry.

More about how it works

Is it right for you?

A good fit if you …

  • want one simple record of what came in and what went out
  • like to see your month and your year without building anything
  • pay partly in cash and want that counted too
  • prefer to type entries yourself instead of connecting a bank

Maybe not the right fit if you …

Good to know

  • Important: This is a digital budgeting and expense-tracking tool for personal use, not financial or tax advice. The offline web app stores data locally in your browser. Browser data may be lost if it is cleared, so please download regular JSON backups. The Google Sheets version is a separate file stored in your Google account. The two versions do not sync. There is no bank connection, automatic transaction import, payment processing, or push notification service. All figures are calculated from the entries you provide. The displayed monthly difference is not a verified bank balance or a guarantee of money available to spend. Google Sheets requires a Google account. No physical item will be shipped.
  • For personal use only – sharing, forwarding or reselling the files is not allowed

Questions about the Budget Spreadsheet

Does it connect to my bank?

No. There's no bank connection and no import. You type in what you want to track – paid by card, bank or cash.

Do I need an account?

The web app needs no account – you open the file in your browser. The Google Sheets version needs a free Google account. Either way, there is no stillmeasure. account and no subscription.

Where are my entries saved – and do the two versions sync?

In the web app, entries are saved in your browser on that device, not inside the HTML file. Always open the same file in the same browser, and download a backup now and then. In Google Sheets, they are in your own copy in Google Drive. The two versions don't sync.

Does it work on my iPhone?

iPhone & iPad: open the web-app link from your START HERE guide in Safari and add it to your Home Screen. It was checked on an iPhone in October 2026. A downloaded HTML file on its own only opens as a preview on iPhone and iPad.

Why can't I enter a future date?

It's a record of what really happened, so you add a payment on the day it happens. If you want to plan ahead by payday, the Paycheck Budget Planner is made for that.

I withdrew cash. Is that spending?

No. A withdrawal is a transfer (Bank → Cash), and so is moving money to savings. What you then buy with the cash is an expense paid with cash.

What's the spending guide?

One optional monthly amount you choose. The ring shows how much of it you've used. It's a guide for you, not a rule or a recommendation – leave it empty if you only want to track.

Can I use it in Excel?

It isn't supported. The spreadsheet is built and tested for Google Sheets.
