In short

An assignment tracker that works back from the due date

Assignment Tracker & Student Planner is a one-time download: an offline web app (no account needed) plus a separate Google Sheets™ template (free Google account) for tracking assignments, exams and readings – and for seeing when to start each one. No subscription.

A due date tells you when something ends, not when to begin. This assignment tracker for Google Sheets and your browser works back from it: you add each assignment, exam, quiz, reading or project with its exact due time, split it into small steps with minutes, and set one study window per weekday. The backward planner places the open minutes into those windows, counting back from the due time and your buffer, and shows a start-by time.

It doesn't book anything into a calendar, doesn't connect to your school or university and doesn't predict grades – averages come only from the grades you type in. The start-by time is a suggestion, not an appointment.

An organizing tool – not a medical tool.

What the video shows

The dashboard, under the line “Plan assignments backward from deadlines and track study work.” Labels appear one by one: Backward Planner, Exam Countdown, Study Sessions, Due-Date Tracker and Grade Tracking. A small card works it out: due Fri 6:30 PM, a 30-minute buffer and 1 hour of work give start by Fri 5:00 PM. Then the backward planner, exam countdown and grades. It ends with: offline web app + Google Sheets, three editions, separate files, no syncing.

What it does

Assignments and small steps

  • Five types: assignment, exam, quiz, reading and project – each with course, exact due time, priority and buffer
  • Sorted into overdue, due today, upcoming and completed
  • Up to 20 steps per assignment, each with minutes and energy (1–5); tick done, start, skip or reorder them
  • Progress comes from your steps – skipped steps don't count
  • “Mark submitted” is separate from the steps – an assignment is complete only when you say so, and you can undo it

Backward planner

  • Works back from the due time, your buffer and the minutes left in open steps
  • One study window per weekday, with times you choose
  • A start-by time for every open assignment
  • A warning when the start time has passed or study time runs short – a suggestion, nothing is booked

Timetable, exams and study sessions

  • Weekly schedule in a time grid, with teacher, color and class times per course
  • Deadline markers at the exact due time, a countdown to the next exam and a 14-day deadline strip
  • Study matcher: choose energy and minutes and see every fitting step; “Surprise me” picks one by a fixed rule
  • Plan a study session or log one afterwards – sessions never tick off steps for you

Grades and course progress

  • Your own grades in percent, with an optional weight
  • Simple and weighted average per course – no predictions, no grade conversion
  • Course progress from your steps, plus charts for steps done, study time and workload

Good to know

  • Digital product – nothing will be shipped.
  • Web app data stays in your browser; clearing browser data clears the planner too. Download a backup now and then.
  • It does not connect to any school or university system – you add your courses and due dates yourself.
  • Browser support for local HTML files varies, particularly on iPhone and iPad – the START HERE guide includes iPhone links.
  • A personal study and assignment organization tool. Study times, start-by dates and grade averages are planning estimates based on your entries. It does not guarantee academic performance, assignment completion or exam results and is not a medical or psychological treatment.
  • For personal use only. Sharing, redistributing or reselling the files is not allowed.

Questions about the Assignment Tracker & Student Planner

Does it connect to my school or university?

No. It doesn't link to any school or university system. You add your courses, class times and due dates yourself.

Do I need an account?

The web app needs no account – you open the file in your browser. The Google Sheets version needs a free Google account. Either way, there is no stillmeasure. account and no subscription.

Where is my data saved – and do the two versions sync?

In the web app, it's saved in your browser on that device, not inside the HTML file – so download a backup now and then. In Google Sheets, it's in your own copy in Google Drive. The two versions don't sync.

Does it work on my iPhone?

iPhone & iPad: open the web-app link from your START HERE guide in Safari and add it to your Home Screen. A downloaded HTML file on its own only opens as a preview on iPhone and iPad.

Why is my start-by time in the past?

There wasn't enough study time in your windows before the due time. Widen a study window, add a day or lower the buffer.

I ticked every step – why is the assignment still open?

Steps and submitting are separate – click Mark submitted (or Mark taken) when you hand it in.

Can I use it in Excel?

It isn't supported. The spreadsheet is made for Google Sheets.
